Candid photos have just surfaced of Jason filming a scene with Rashida Jones for an upcoming movie. I think that they are filming My Idiot Brother which I had no idea Jason was a part of, but Rashida Jones is and the movie is currently filming. It may possibly just be a bit part as Jason wasn’t announced as part of the cast and he’s already filming How I Met Your Mother and The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made this month. Also in the film is Paul Rudd & Zooey Deschanel. The candids show Jason proposing to Rashida then they take a ride on a horse drawn carriage.
Turning nasty was no stretch for Sarah Marshall’s Jason Segel
September 3, 2010
To say that Jason Segel was in his element while providing a lead voice for the 3D animated family film Despicable Me is, he admits, something of an understatement. “Animation and puppetry and kids stuff with a little edge has always been right in my wheelhouse, so this was a treat,” he says with glee.
In the film Segel lends his voice to evil mastermind Vector, the even-more-evil rival of the nasty Gru (voiced by Segel’s comedy pal Steve Carell). Vector is a short, nerdy, bespectacled, tracksuit-wearing bad guy whose mastery of technology draws immediate parodic comparisons with Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates.
Any resemblance is purely coincidental, as it turns out. “I’ve been asked that before! He looks more like Bill Gates than I intended!” Segel laughs. As for the snivelling voice he developed for Vector, inspiration was close at hand and required no deep digging into the shady side of his psyche.
“Actually, it was really easy. I just figured this guy was super, super insecure and while he is really short and nerdy I’ve been six-four since I was 12.” (Six-four is unmetricated American that translates into English as 193 centimetres). “I was, like, six-four and 100 pounds (45.36kg) for a couple of years, just this weird, gangly kid who was like ET trying to figure out how his limbs worked. So that’s what I drew on, the insecurity of my childhood. I’m, like, the least masculine man of all time. I happen to be gigantic, but I’m pretty soft.”
The film has proved a huge hit, having taken more than $330 million worldwide, outdoing other 3D epics such as Monsters vs Aliens, How to Train Your Dragon, Ice Age 3 and Clash of the Titans. And it’s the latest feather in Segel’s increasingly weighty cap. As well as being a regular on the popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother Segel, 30, starred in the hit bromance I Love You, Man and is best known for writing and starring in the neo-classic chick flick for guys Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Jason has been doing some promotion in Australia for Despicable Me which is released there next week. He called up NovaFM to talk about the film. Check the interview below.

It seems that Disney have decided to get some advice from movie giant Pixar on the Muppets movie, much like earlier this year when Disney went to Pixar for some advice on the new Tron Legacy movie.
Principals involved with Disney’s upcoming live-action pic toplining Jason Segel flew to Pixar headquarters in Emeryville, Calif., on Wednesday for a table read of the project with the animation powerhouse.
The involvement comes just months after Pixar helped shape reshoots for Disney’s upcoming sci-fi tentpole “Tron Legacy.”
In other words, this is the second recent example of the animation house assisting parent Disney with a live-action feature.
Some of the members of the so-called “Pixar Brain Trust” — filmmakers John Lasseter, Brad Bird, Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton, Michael Arndt, Bob Peterson and president Ed Catmull — were there for the consultations. Docter is a particularly avid Muppets fan, so he almost certainly was one of the attendees. On the Disney side, Muppets director James Bobin and producers David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman were likely in the room along with Segel. Neither Pixar nor Disney would comment.
Beyond whatever advice might have come down for the project at hand, the fact that Pixar has its fingers in the Muppets pie suggests that Disney, under the new regime of Rich Ross and Sean Bailey, is intent on taking advantage of its subsidiary’s storytelling abilities.
Pixar are obviously a great source of knowledge, let us not forget that Pixar have yet to have a flop, and all of their movies have had mega returns at the box office. Of course Pixar is now a subsidiary of Disney, so they’re keeping it in the family. Hopefully this will make the Muppet’s movie even more awesome than it already is shaping up to be!
The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made Off-Screen Role: Writer (with Nicholas Stoller), Producer On-Screen Role: Gary (Probable Name) Status: Pre-Production Release Date: December 25th 2011
When a woman does nudity in a movie, men immediately switch into a sexual mode. For women, from what I understand, it’s not like that. They see a naked, out-of-shape man crying and it’s funny — something weird, disturbing and disgusting we can all laugh at. — Jason on nudity in movies
